Watercolour, Gouache on Illustration Board
This may be the most literal copy of a photo that I’ve painted in watercolour/gouache and it may be the painting that I’m happiest with. I was able to capture a scene that has more than what I had painted because they’re implied. In high school, my art teacher (Mark D.!) taught us about how Donatello’s David is a sculpture that shows Goliath but he’s not there, you just know that he’s in front of David. In this painting, you just know that the piano is there, so is the band and the crowd. Thank you Jet Black paint. And I also like to think that it’s a visual representation of his music in general. Can you hear my painting?
